Sarah has worked in community development lending for more than 25 years. She started her career working in economic development in Asia and Eastern Europe, where she worked for a US Agency for International Development small business investment fund. After completing BankBoston’s credit training, she worked as a small business lender at BankBoston’s First Community Bank.
After 10 years in commercial lending, Sarah transitioned to community development lending joining Wainwright Bank and then BlueHub Loan Fund, where she eventually led the affordable housing lending practice. Sarah has extensive experience in lending to the affordable housing, education, community health and social service sectors. She also specializes in making loans into complex financing structures including New Market Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, Low Income Tax Credits, and other subsidy programs. Sarah prides herself on being creative and flexible in her approach to lending and building strong partnerships with her borrowers to solve complex problems.
She received her undergraduate degree in Government with a focus on East Asian Studies from Harvard College and received her MBA in nonprofit management and finance from Columbia.
When she is not trying to solve a financing gap, she is active in her local town government where she is a Town Meeting Member or is spending time with her husband, three daughters and beloved dog Finn.
